Junior Varsity Coach: Justin Wallace

Charles graduated from Jay M Robinson HS where was a 4-year Varsity starter. He was All-Conference his senior year and the Team MVP batting .500 for the season. He played his college baseball at St. Andrews Presbyterian College located in Laurinburg, NC where we was a 4 year starter at 3B and holds the school’s record for most career starts and games played. He earned his degree in Business Administration.

Charles started with Core Athletics by coaching a Fall Metro team. He has since coached several youth teams within Core Athletics’ programs. He was also Jay M Robinson’s JV coach and a local showcase team coach. His experience as various levels gives him a unique vision to help players journey through their playing careers.

Meet our Coaches

David is the owner and operator of Darwin
Sports, Inc. and the Core Athletics facility. His experience includes six years as a professional baseball player and 15 years as a youth baseball camp instructor.

The Detroit Tigers drafted him in 1996 where he progressed through the organization to play for the Triple-A Toledo Mudhens. He also played in the Cleveland Indians organization for the AA Akron Aeros and the AAA Buffalo Bisons.

Charles Weber is a Baseball Instructor & Youth League Director at Core Athletics where he oversees the development of young players. He has a passion to teach and relates well with the players.

Middle School Coach: Josh Tossas

We are thrilled to have Stampede alumnus Josh Tossas coaches our Middle School Program in 2017.

Justin Wallace will be joining the Stampede program to coach the JV program in 2017.  Justin has recently set roots in Concord with his wife and two children; Marcus and Madelyn.  He is currently the pastor at One Life Church after 12 years as the lead pastor of Impact Charlotte at UNCC.  He coached baseball at Hickory Grove Christian School the last four years, last year as their varsity coach.  Justin played college baseball for Anderson University (Indiana) primarily as an outfielder.  He grew up in Scottsburg, IN attending Scottsburg HS where he was a standout at both second base and shortstop.  We are excited to have Justin Wallace joining our program.

David played college baseball at Duke University. As a four-year starter he was ACC All Conference in 1996, a team captain, and still holds several career and season pitching records. Earning a Bachelor of Arts degree at Duke, he completed a double major in economics and sociology and was listed on the ACC All Academic Team his senior year.

During his high school career at West Mecklenburg, David was honored as the Mecklenburg County Player of the year in 1992 and was an All-State team selection that same year. He was also named a member of the AAU All America team in 1991.

Throughout his playing career David has worked as an instructor at camps, clinics and various baseball facilities, including “The Dugout” in Lakeland, Florida, at “On Deck”, in Pineville, NC, and at “Diamond Dreams” in Concord, NC. In addition, he has coached at various levels including the Davidson Copperhead collegiate team for three seasons as well at several AAU/USSSA travel teams. His focus is on developing programs for athletes to reach their maximum potential through incorporating proper hitting and pitching mechanics, strength training and mental conditioning.
